Meet some of our previous scholarship students:
Srinath, IBDP scholarship student at DIS:

“Being part of the DIS family since 2010 has helped me grow into a fine young man with a lot of learnings in different streams. The opportunities provided to me are going to leave fond memories in the years to come! I thank the entire team at DIS who have guided me through my leadership journey and helped me inculcate the same discipline in my academics and extracurricular activities, which have made me achieve levels that I never imagined I was capable of. Receiving the Academic Scholarship was euphoric – not only for me but for my parents and teachers too. I am truly grateful and indebted to Al-Futtaim Education Foundation for validating my efforts to reach greater heights in the future.”
Vaynika, IB1 academic scholarship student at DIS:

“When I got the news that I had been awarded a scholarship, I was ecstatic and couldn’t believe that that email was real. This scholarship is a milestone achievement of my life and an acknowledgement of the hours of hard work and collaborative effort put in by me, my parents, and my teachers in these last three years. It is a very proud moment for me that I am now also a part of the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation Scholars Initiative. I believe this is a great initiative that recognises and supports students with exceptional talents and academics. The scholarship gives me a form of financial independence and accomplishment. It will also hugely benefit me in my medical career pathway by being evidence of the work and time I have dedicated to studying and academics, both inside and outside of school.”
Roxanne, IB1 academic scholarship student at DIS:

“Achieving this scholarship is an element of motivation to perform at my highest potential as I see it as a manifestation of encouragement and validation of my personal growth and learning journey at DIS. I vividly remember when I heard I had received the scholarship. I was squealing at the top of my voice and running around the house. I was ecstatic and seeing the sheer happiness on my parents’ faces made me realize how much the commitment and dedication towards my studies was all worth it! I feel so grateful to be a part of a group of like-minded and hard-working individuals who were all given the same wonderful opportunity through Al-Futtaim Education Foundation to propel in what they do best.”
Meera, IB1 talent scholarship student at DIS:

“I have been part of the DIS community since 2008, where I initially joined the school as an FS2 student. During my first couple of years at DIS, I was given several opportunities to experiment with different instruments during music class such as the violin, guitar, piano and flute. However, I came to find that the violin had a sense of freedom and expression, which led me to pursue it as a hobby of mine. I initially began taking lessons at school and performing on small stages to smaller audiences. However, as time passed and I practiced more and more, I was able to end up performing concertos, symphonies and sonatas as a duo, soloist, conductor, and orchestral member on the stage of the Dubai Opera! It is a great pleasure and an honour to be part of the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation Scholars as being part of a group of like-minded and diligent individuals who were all given the same incredible opportunity to propel in what they do best motivates me to keep working on myself to become successful and achieve my goals in the future. Receiving this scholarship showed me that with dedication and hard work come opportunities and achievements. Obtaining the scholarship motivates me to keep thriving and growing whilst representing DIS in doing so. Furthermore, the scholarship widens my opportunities for universities as diversity and uniqueness are greatly appreciated.”
Mohsin, Year 9 talent scholarship student at DIS:

“I joined the DIS family in 2019, and my journey of talent took off from there! It all began when applied and became Head Boy of DIS. However, this was just the start of a journey that led me to opportunities for me to take on, such as joining debates, doing weekly assemblies in front of year 5 & 6. Most importantly, I got the lead role in the school production (Horton the Elephant in Cat in the Hat) which revealed the pathway to performing arts and got me to where I am today. Receiving this scholarship pushes me to further develop my skills in various areas of performing arts such as acting, miming, public speaking, and so on. When I found out I had been awarded a scholarship, I was full of joy and grateful that I got recognised for my accomplishments. The Al-Futtaim Education Foundation not only motivated me to develop my performing arts skills more, but it also encouraged me to put in a lot of effort in academics. As a result of this, I received the COBIS award. Thanks to these recognitions, I feel honoured and motivated to continue to strive for success and grow my confidence even more.”
